Silage film
The three-layer film for silage’s heaps (black and white or black) ensure the right temperature essential to the process of ensiling. Covering by the silage film prevents air and water access as well as carbon dioxide from escaping, acting as silage preservative. After application of black and white film much better efficiency of silage is obtained. The white layer reflects sunlight and prevents reduction in the nutritive value of silage, which occurs using only black foil. While the black layer maintains the proper temperature inside of silos and heaps. Black film only can be used in covered vehicular silos, while the white film in roofless silos and heaps. The use of the silage film rest on covering formed heaps of fragmented corn, grass, leaves and beet intended for silage as animal feed.
The use of the film prevents access of air and light for proper ensiling process, protects against contamination and against influence of atmospheric factors.
